Into Portsmouth, Ohio today.

We left Cleveland this morning with the temp already at 21C so we were expecting a warm day, and we got one!

First stop was for fuel after a fast run down one of the main interstates. From here we went down the 83 which took us through some lovely country side into Millersburg, Ohio's Armish country. Here we got lost as I had stopped at a red light while the others carried on. Once going again Steve had marked the corner and noted the other corner the rest of the grouped turned down so off we went only to find no one there! After a bit of a scoot around Jo rang Cheryl and got directions to where they were waiting for us; all good in the end.

Then off to see the basket building in Newark (it's for sale if you want it) and a little city called Coshocton, in the county seat of Coshocton. Here there is a little village called Roscoe a restored town of the canal era. To improve the transportation of goods and people, the Ohio and Erie Canal was constructed. This enabled coal, which was mined in the area, to be transported. In addition, the canal supported transport of goods manufactured by local industries to  places as far as New York, New York which was only just being developed.

From this beautiful spot it was to Portsmouth via another fuel stop; by the time we got there it was hitting 41C; it was bloody hot!!!

We arrived very hot and bothered at Portsmouth so stop for a cold drink at the Brew House, a lovely old brick building then Jo and Chris took us past the very mural painted on a large long concrete wall.

Tomorrow it is Kentucky and Virginia ending up in Natural Bridge, Virginia: gee Dwane we will be just down the road from you!
