The entrance to it, at least the one that we went in, was right next to a church and looked like an entrance to an underground rail system.
No photo would do this place justice as it is too big. It stretches under buildings for about 10 blocks in what looks like in all directions and is a couple of stories above the ground and what looks like 3 or 4 underground.
Rob found out about a building with an observation deck, Place Ville-Maire (4th tallest in Montreal) so off we went to find it, and we did with Graeme's fine navigation skills. This building is 46 floors and we went to the top for a look and a drink.
The water you see in the background is the St Lawrence River which runs from Lake Ontario to the Gulf of St Lawrence, about 750 miles. It is a real important river as it supports a lot of shipping for Toronto, Montreal, and Quebec.
Next was the Notre-Dame Basilica of Montreal; with Woody in tow off we went to find a muffin and a coffee before the church, which we did, but when arriving at the church we found a wedding had just finished, but taking their time to move on, and there was another one and a funeral to be had so the church was probably going to be closed to the public for the rest of the day. Judy was a little disappointed as it was on her list of must do's. We carried on into the old part of Montreal and decided a sit down and drink was in order after which we happened upon Mike and Sandy who told us the church was open as they had been through it: off we went back again to find it was closed for prayer time but the lady let us through with a strict message to change our thinking and for me to mind my hat; this is what we found;
Once visited it was back to the hotel for a rest before meeting Mike, Sandy, Woody and Jody in the lobby at 6.30pm.
Tonight it was back into the old area for dinner then a ride on the big wheel before heading back to the hotel to pack as we leave tomorrow. Montreal.
Hi Jayde, Ellie and Paige, we love and miss you.😍🥰😘
