New Glasgow to Baddeck via the Cabot Trail.

We left New Glasgow fine but still a little cool. We had about 480 kms to ride over Canso Causeway onto Cape Breton Island and up over two passes one of which still had permafrost.

The Canso Causeway is the only way onto the island by road; you can get a ferry as well but we took the road option.

Woody found a nail in his tyre this morning so was taking it rather easy. A short time before reaching our first stop of the day we entered fog, freezing fog. By the time we got to Tim Hortons, a bit like McDonalds, we were cold and looking for a hot drink; this was most welcome. At this time most of us were looking through baggage for warm gear; then it started to rain so out came the water proofs.

We were riding the Cabot Trail which took us through some lovely fishing villages and up and over a couple of passes, which gave us some good riding, and through Cape Breton Highlands National Park. All along the road there were signs out warning of the Moose; we saw none much to Judy's and my disgust. The end of the day saw us staying in Baddeck, a small town on the shore of Bras d'or Lake right at the north eastern tip of Nova Scotia. I will leave you with some photos to look at.

Good night Ellie, Paige and Jayde XXXOOOXXX
